A new dedicated air freight route connecting Guangzhou, China, with Miami International Airport (MIA), was launched last week.
The inaugural flight, operated by Guangzhou Daking SCM Chain Management Co., departed Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport fully loaded with e-commerce goods destined for the U.S. The new route cuts transit time to just 18 hours, five hours faster than prior connections, enabling same-day or next-day delivery for U.S. customers.
Currently operating once a week, the service is expected to ramp up frequency as demand grows. The company cited rising U.S. consumer appetite for Chinese goods and the booming cross-border e-commerce trade as key drivers, despite tariffs that have at least temporarily more than doubled prices to U.S. buyers.
Headquartered in Guangzhou’s Nansha District, a major e-commerce logistics hub, Daking SCM has seen export trade volume soar from $2.8 million in 2014 to more than $6.4 billion in 2024. The new Miami service is a strategic move to optimize the company’s U.S. footprint and help more Chinese businesses meet U.S. market demand.
For MIA, the route underscores its growing importance in global e-commerce logistics, particularly as direct Asia–Miami cargo connections increase.
